Where does Dr Sunil Reddy consult?
Dr Sunil Reddy primarily runs his private practice out the Main Rooms at 151 Hutt Street, Adelaide 5000. He has a strong commitment to service the orthopaedic needs of our community especially tin the northern, eastern and central suburbs and Country SA. Pursuant to this commitment Sunil provides consultations at locations in Elizabeth Vale, Modbury, Henley Beach and Port Pirie.
How can I get an appointment with Dr Reddy?
To make an appointment, please have your General Practitioner email your referral to our rooms and one of our staff members will send you an SMS when it has been received.
Our phone hours are 9:30am – 1:30pm Monday to Friday. If your unable to get through on these times, please submit an online enquiry and one of our staff will contact you in the afternoon.
You can also make an appointment by submitting the Appointment Request form.
For fractures and acute knee and shoulder injuries, Dr Reddy’s Rooms will organise an appointment within 1-2 days. Please inform our staff about your condition.
Dr Reddy also encourages referring GPs to contact his Rooms or talk to him directly (especially after-hours and over weekends) to organise urgent appointments.
How long does it take to get an appointment with Dr Sunil Reddy?
Dr Sunil Reddy strives to see most private patients within 1-4 weeks. He has operating lists at multiple hospitals in Adelaide and waiting times for surgery are usually 1-3 weeks.
What does Dr Sunil Reddy specialise in?
Dr Sunil P Reddy specialises in Shoulder and Knee Surgery which form the cornerstone of his practice. He has a keen interest and expertise in Total Joint Replacements (Knee, Hip & Shoulder) and Reconstructive arthroscopic surgery. He also performs open and arthroscopic wrist surgery and is an experienced Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon.
He offers Robotic-assisted Total Knee replacements, Anterior minimally-invasive Total hip replacements and Patient-specific total shoulder replacements to all his patients.
Can I see Dr Reddy for a second opinion?
Yes, your GP or Specialist can refer you for a second opinion. You may request a referral from your doctor if you would like one.
What should I bring to the consultation?
Please bring the following as applicable:
- All X-rays, CT or MRI scans and results of blood tests or Nerve conduction tests as applicable.
- If your GP has provided a Referral letter, please give the same to Receptionist on arrival. Your doctor would likely have faxed the referral letter to Dr Reddy, in which case you do not need to bring one with you.
- Medicare card, DVA card or Health insurance card as applicable.
Do I have to pay a gap fee for consultation?
Dr Sunil Reddy offers bulk-billing consults to aged pensioners only.
All JRC or Joint Replacement Clinic patients are routinely bulk billed.
For other patients, unless otherwise specified there is a gap to pay. Our Rooms will provide information prior to your appointment.
Where does Dr Sunil Reddy operate?
Dr Reddy operates at Ashford Hospital, Calvary Central Districts Hospital, Western Hospital and Port Pirie Hospital. Some patients need observation or overnight stay in the Critical Care Unit (ICU or HDU) following surgery, which would mean performing the surgery at a hospital with Critical Care facilities. Dr Reddy will discuss this with you if required.
Do I have to pay a gap for surgeries - does Dr Sunil Reddy participate in gap-cover schemes of health funds?
Dr Reddy offers No-Gap surgery to all patients. This means no out-of-pocket expenses if you have private health insurance. If you do not have private health cover, we can provide you an approximate all-inclusive quote for the surgery and hospital stay. Dr Reddy participates in gap-cover schemes.
I need a Joint replacement surgery (Total knee, hip or shoulder replacement) - what are the out-of-pocket expenses?
Sunil performs all joint replacement surgery under the JRC initiative. The Joint Replacement Clinic (JRC) provides all South Australians (with private health insurance) a patient-centric, comprehensive and holistic joint replacement service with No-out-of-pocket expense for surgery, anaesthesia, hospital stay, rehabilitation and home care on day of admission and following discharge.

What if I have an urgent injury or fracture?
Urgent appointments for fractures and acute knee and shoulder injuries are available. Two Rapid Access Clinics are available every week, one at Dr Reddy’s Rooms on Hutt street and one at Calvary Central Districts Specialist suites.
Patients can call 08 8232 8899 during business hours, or make an Appointment Request. Referring Physicians can call Dr Sunil Reddy directly to discuss such injuries or make an appointment for their patients, including after-hours and weekends.
Can I drive after a day surgery procedure?
You would not be able to drive on the day of surgery. Please organise a friend or family to drive you home.
Do I need physiotherapy following surgery?
It depends on the surgical procedure you had. For in-patient surgery, physiotherapist would see you on a daily basis initially and then as required. Dr Reddy and your therapist will advise regarding the rehabilitation regimen. Please follow the advice and perform exercises regularly to give yourself the best chances of recovery.
We can assist you with organising outpatient physiotherapy where required. This is routinely required for Total Knee Replacement, Total Hip Replacements and Total Shoulder Replacements as well as the management of most sporting injuries and fractures.
When can I take my dressings off?
The dressings are water proof. You can shower over them, but please keep them intact till Dr Reddy sees you – usually 10-14 days after surgery. The sutures are absorbable and do not need removal in most patients.
